Last post?

Hello,

I feel as though this could be my last post :(

It is the morning of hand in and I'm sitting at this laptop feeling crazy about the fact that not only fmp is over but also my time at the FRA!

What on earth?!

I have made such good friends and have enjoyed my time there so so much. I don't want to leave!!

But there we go, now I need to apply for more jobs and get myself out there. Oh and go on holiday!

If only it could be sunny today and it would top it all off. But no!!

FINAL DAY

Guess what...


I've printed and bound my FMP!

I literally cannot believe it. I rocked up to staples at 7.30, shaking like a leaf and they said I just had time, phewf.

What I will say is that its a good job I saved as numbered jpegs in a printing file as well as powerpoint because the quality of the powerpoint print out was so so bad. I thought I was going to faint when I saw it!

Butttttttt it all worked out and I am so pleased with it.

Now I just need to attach the trims for my buyers pack and get a few more things printed for my research file.

I can't wait to hand in!!

I know..

After going through each and every page of my FMP, I have decided that I will be displaying both of my range boards for the presentation.

I think they will immediately show the person, where I went with my project and that I thoroughly researched the trends and stuck in one direction.

To be honest, they are the most suited, what else would I have put up?!

What to display?!

We've all been emailed saying that we have to pick 2 pages from our project to print in A3 which will go above our presentation area for graduation.

I seriously don't know which ones to choose - they'll look so random!

Update

I've almost finished everything now!

It's crazy what a double bank holiday weekend can do when you lock yourself away. haha!

I just need to finish off sourcing and check everything off.

It is taking absolutely ages to actually save each photoshop file as a jpeg. why why why.

I've decided I'm going to print and bind at staples so went there today where I was advised to save each file as a jpeg and place it into a powerpoint document. I must say I'm a bit skeptical, not least because it's going to take an absolute age. So I'm putting each jpeg into powerpoint and also a printing folder in case I don't like the way they come out from powerpoint - could be blurred and smaller than a4.

Err, what else have I got to do?

About a million things that seem to just pop up each time I finish something.

Oh well, deadline soon!!

WOO!

So I am now feeling confident that ASOS could run with something in the style that I am doing.

UO Festival Collection

Well, I thought Topshop had played their cards right.

And then came the Urban Outfitters collection. Offering so many different categories, they've got their selection down to perfection.

They've also considered non-clothing for the collection i.e. wine bottle covers and hip flasks which add a really cool touch!

Something I could look into although I don't know if I could face the merch!

I've put together a quick board of the collection so take a look.

It is so 'UO'.

I have picked this head-dress out too - it's the most beautiful thing I've seen but who could pull it off? I'm tempted..

Here is my website feature and shown range!!

I used the main asos website as a backing as obviously they are very skilled and knowledgeable as to what works etc.

I am really pleased with them! I wanted to keep them simple and to the point but effective and intriguing which I think I have achieved.

I wish I had actual photos of my garments though, that would be really cool!!

Crisis Averted

Hello,

Apologies for my last post, I was a little stressed and could not see myself ever finishing my fmp.

I'm more used to writing here now although am still finding it one of the hardest parts to do!

I have so many things on my mind I sort of forget - sorry!

But I do keep finding useful and inspiring images so I will post them very soon.

I've now finished all my merch (hallelujah) and am doing price architecture and size ratios and sourcing.

Booooo all the writing is crazy, but there we go!

I'm going to be drawing up my planogram and website pages soon so will post them when I do, don't worry!

Planogram

And here is the awaited planogram in all it's glory.

I wanted to do a conventional planogram using smart draw but after much deliberation with Mikael (my pixel tutor) I decided to use photoshop. My walls are not conventional walls and would effectively just be slightly reinforced tent walls so I decided the garments would be hanging from hooks on the wall. My till point has wheels so easily moveable, allowing staff to have a bit of say in where they feel it is best suited.

All the garments on the wall are 'pre-customised' to attract customers.

Here are the 8 garments I have 'pre-customised' which will be displayed in my pop-up shop.

It was a lot harder to apply the customisation using photoshop as it doesn't give you the full effect of what it would actually look like. However we still get a good feel for it and I only wanted it as an example to customers of what they can create themselves.

These are the garments I will be using in my planogram which I will upload next!

I really enjoyed creating these pieces but definitely found it tough keeping them simple so that my customers could create on them!

Two Weeks To Go

Hello!

I have been insanely busy this week. I've applied for 3 jobs which I am excited about although nervous to hear back (if I do at all!) and have been working hard on my fmp. And suddenly the weather has become absolutely beautiful which is obviously a little tempting when working. Although I think I'm doing ok!

I've finished my ranges and am working on different areas of my fmp now. I'm currently completing my sourcing strategy and have done most of my merchandising spreadsheets. I still feel like I am so far from the end though even if hand in is in 2 weeks tomorrow. Waahhh!

Another post from refinery! This time about what to pack to bonnaroo festival. Obviously my asos tour bus won't be going there, but still, very useful information and interesting to see what they call essential!

Celebrity Festival Style!

I have selected the top best photos of celebrities at festivals to draw inspiration from them. I'm even going to do a running commentary!

Kate Bosworth always pulls it out the bag. Literally! Love the boots and the crazy hair.

And again, Kate looks beautiful and so effortless with those hunters and parka. A true festival fashion fiend.

I'm not really one for Fergies style but I have to say, all the fringing is working here! Something to investigate I think!

Oh Paris Hilton. I only put this on here because its funny. A reminder of what not to wear shall we say. 

Rihanna, you never fail. These shorts are amazing, definitely something I can take inspiration from. Not so sure about the jacket but can see where she's going with this whole look! You crazy.

Brand Logo

Hello,

I have been umming and ahhing over my brand logo for days now.

I would post a picture but I've accidentally over written the file :|

Basically, I designed a new asos brand logo for my concept. It was a drawing of a floral camper van with asos written down the side and everyone seemed to really like it.. apart from me!

So after much deliberation, I have now changed it to this (will upload picture underneath)!

I much prefer it as I think it's more modern and more appealing to my target customer.

So pleased now!!

Hello!

I've been working very hard on my fmp, this week concentrating on my ranges. One follows the 'hot tropics' trend and the other on 'festival glam'. Following on from the quick trend boards I uploaded in my last post, I have created my own trend boards which I have been basing my ranges on.

I have completed most of my ranges but will hold back on uploading them to here until they are completely finalized and perfect!

Trend Inspiration

FMP Concept Presentation

Hello!

I haven't written in a while but I have been so busy with finishing off my merchandising assignment and starting my FMP.

I had to present my idea to two of my tutors today and they loved it which is so so good!

The idea I have for my final project is essentially an ASOS pop-up shop that would tour the UK festivals of 2013. In this pop-up shop would be a customisation bar where customers are given the opportunity to 'edit' their purchases with embellishments such as studs, diamantes, ribbon and beading.

Coachella '12

I have become obsessed with Coachella and looking through as many photos, videos and blog posts I can find. The fashion, weather, art and music look amazing and I am determined to go next year. Hopefully Tupac will be returning too!
